"Can't Play Around" was a club hit for the studio group Lace. Released as a standalone single, the song was written by the act's backup singer Ron Tyson and keyboardist Eugene Curry, and produced by Tyson with Joe Bana. It was mixed by the legendary disco DJ Larry Levan. On Billboard magazine's Dance/Disco Top-80 chart, the single peaked at #16 in 1983.
