Rock Sweep: November 10, 2012...

We're now up to the second part of today's five-part "chart sweeps" where I sample the newest songs making their way on to the weekly music singles charts at Billboard magazine. This time out it's the latest on rock radio..

On the Rock Airplay chart (which combined all the different formats), Mumford & Sons' "I Will Wait" commands a fifth week at #1.

The top debut is by Seattle rapper Macklemore and musical partner Ryan Lewis with his debut hit single, "Thrift Shop" featuring backing singer Wanz at #43. All I can say is this is hilarious, and well worth crossing over for such an obvious throwback hip-hop track...(NSFW)

Entering at #47 is hipster-rock duo Matt and Kim, with their first rock radio hit, "Let's Go". It's Olan Mills-tastic!

New Yorkers fun are in at #49 with the third single from their excellent debut Some Nights, "Carry On". They took "We Are Young" to the top earlier this year. This heartfelt singalong really compliments their other hits...

Meanwhile, over on the Alternative/Modern Rock chart, Muse keep "Madness" at #1 for a fourth non-consecutive week.

Sibling act Blondfire are at #33 with their first hit, "Where The Kids Are"...

The other debut at #38 is the aforementioned "Let's Go" by Matt and Kim...

On the Mainstream Rock format chart, "Chalk Outline" by Three Days Grace remains at #1 for an eighth week..

Hard rock outfit Charm City Devils from Baltimore are at #39 with their latest, "Unstoppable". They took their version of "Man Of Constant Sorrow" to #25 in August...

3 Doors Down's new song from their upcoming greatest hits set, "One Light", is the other debut here at #40. They've had five #1 hits on this chart, the last being "It's Not My Time" in 2008...

Over at the Triple A (adult-album alternative, or "hipster-rock") chart, Mumford's "I Will Wait" claims a tenth week at #1...

The solitary debut here at #29 is singer/songwriter Jason Mraz with "93 Million Miles". He took "I'm Yours" to #1 on this format in 2008...

At the Active Rock format list, "Chalk Outline" stays at the top for a seventh week...

The aforementioned "One Light" by 3 Doors Down comes in at #37. They had two top-20 hits at this format last year, with "When You're Young" making it to #12..

Heavy metal act Machine Head debut at #39 with "Darkness Within", their first hit here...

Finally, over on the Heritage Rock format list, Three Days Grace hang on to #1 for a fourth week with "Chalk Outline"...

Alt-rock duo Black Keys took their last two singles to the top-10 on this chart, and now they're at #24 with "Little Black Submarines"...

...and heavy metal group In This Moment come in at #25 with "Blood", which already is top-10 on the Mainstream Rock chart...

Well that wraps it up for the rock side of the house. I'll return in an hour and a half with the latest on R&B radio. Rock on!
