Brit Sweep: November 18, 2012...
Hey gang, it's time for this week's look at the newest songs making their way on to the shores of Great Britain, according to their official music singles chart. This week the top-3 sellers are all new records....
The biggest seller of the week in the UK is by boyband phenomenon One Direction, with the second single from their new #1 album, Take Me Home. Surprisingly, out of the eight songs they've put on the top-100 here, "Little Things" is only their second #1, their first being their debut, "What Makes You Beautiful"...

The second-biggest Hawaiian around gets the runner-up spot here, as Bruno Mars comes in at #2 with "Locked Out Of Heaven" from his upcoming sophomore album Unorthodox Jukebox. Bruno has four #1 hits to his name so far, all coming within 12 months time from "Nothing On You" to "The Lazy Song"...
...and in the "show" position is X Factor winners Little Mix with "DNA". It follows two #1 hits, "Cannonball" and "Wings"...
The fourth debut all the way in the top-10 is by a group that's no stranger to that area, McFly, who have had seventeen prior top-10 hits, including seven #1s, the last five years ago with "Transylvania". At #10, "Love Is Easy" is from their upcoming Memory Lane: The Best Of McFly...
Entering at #18 is the sixth single from singer/songwriter Ed Sheeran's award-winning album "+", "Give Me Love". The first, "A Team", is his biggest so far, peaking at #3 last year...
British R&B group Stooshe are at #21 with their third single from their debut album, a cover of the TLC classic from 1995, "Waterfalls" (their original made it to #4 on the UK chart). The girls took the excellent "Black Heart" to #3 earlier this year.
Arriving at #32 is American ingenue Lana Del Rey, who has a pair of #9 hits so far with "Born To Die" and "Video Games". Her latest, "Ride" comes with an elaborate 10 minute video directed by Anthony Mandler....
British singer/rapper Example debuts at #37 with "Close Enemies". He can boast a pair of British chart-toppers with "Changed The Way You Kiss Me" and "Stay Awake" from last year...
British rock gods the Rolling Stones sneak in at #64 with "Doom & Gloom", from their Grrr! compilation. The group has had five #1 hits in England, the first being "It's All Over Now" in 1964, and the latest being "Honky Tonk Women" in 1969..
The Voice UK judge/mentor Daniel O'Donoghue and his band the Script return at #81 with "Six Degrees Of Separation". It follows up their first #1 UK single "Hall Of Fame"...
Well that does it for this week's UK recap....thanks for stopping by, and I'll return tomorrow with another Song of the Day, candletime, part two of this week's "album sweep", and the "robbed hit" of the week. Cheers!
