French Sweep: November 20, 2012...
Welcome back, it's time to cross over the Atlantic to check out the newest songs selling in France last week, according to their official music charts. This week Adele's "Skyfall" hangs on to #1 for a second week.
The highest entry of the week, down at #60, is by American rapper Kendrick Lamar, with his first hit "Swimming Pools (Drank)", which is already in the top-20 on the US pop chart...

Coming in at #67 for its first week is an album track from British rapper The Streets (Mike Skinner)'s 2008 album Everything Is Borrowed called "On The Flip Of A Coin". I can't seem to find anywhere why this song has hit big, but I'm sure it's probably from a commercial or TV show, considering it wasn't even a single in Britain...
French rapper Sultan debuts at #76 with "Sois Fier de C'que T'es" ("Be Proud Of What You Are"). He took "4 Etoiles" to #45 this summer...
Canadian singer/songwriter Sarah McLachlan brings her 1998 US top-10 hit "Angel" to French shores as it enters the chart at #77. Again, I'm not sure why this is getting big again (it also made the German chart)...
French Newcomers Lilly Wood and The Prick debut at #88 with "Where I Want To Be (California)", and I really dig this...
Actor/singer Benjamin Biolay had a debut last week with "Aime Mon Amour", and he's back this week at #93 with "Profite" ("Benefits") featuring Vanessa Paradis...
The final new entry is another "older" track - this time modern rock giants Coldplay with "The Scientist". The band has had two top-10 hits in this country, "Viva La Vida" (#7) and "Paradise" (#5). This song was a top-10 hit in the UK in 2002...
That wraps it up for this side of the world...later tonight I'll cross the border for the latest in Germany...
Cheers!
