French Sweep: November 6, 2012...

Good afternoon, gang, it's time now for my weekly delve into the newest songs making their debut on the official sales chart in France this week.

This week K-Pop star PSY hangs on for week two at #1 with "Gangnam Style"...

The top debut here this week all the way up at #4 is by France's national treasure, Mylene Farmer, with her latest single "A l'ombre" ("The Shadow"). Born in Canada but a resident of this country since she was eight, Farmer has racked up an even dozen of chart-topping singles here, the last being "Lonely Lisa" last year. I'm looking forward to her upcoming album, Monkey Me...

Singer Nolwenn Leroy, who is from the town of Saint-Renan in Brittany on the very westernmost tip of the country, won the TV singing competition Star Academy ten years ago, and since then has gone to #1 twice, with "Casse'" ("Broken") in 2003 and "Nolwenn Ohwo!" in 2006. She's back at #71 with "Juste Pour Me Souvenir" ("Just To Remember")...

French singer Pascal Obispo, from the central region of Dordogne, comes in at #74 with "Tu M'avais Dit" ("You Told Me"). Pascal topped the French chart in 2003 with "Fan"...

New Yorkers fun see their top-3 US pop hit "Some Nights" arrive on this country's chart at #78. They took "We Are Young" to #7 earlier this year...

The final debut at #94 is by singer Raphael (Haroche), from the western Parisian suburbs, with his new single "Manager". He's been to the French top-10 once, with "Caravane" in 2005..

That does it for this week's Parisian getaway....I'll be back later today for a detour to Munich with the latest music in Germany....Cheers!
