Songoftheday 6/6/14 - I'm not man or machine, I'm just something in between....

Loverboy - "Lovin' Every Minute Of It"
from the album Lovin' Every Minute Of It (1985)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #9 (one week)
Weeks in the Top-40: 11

Today's Song of the Day comes from the Canadian rock band Loverboy, who had a year break after their 1983 hit album Keep It Up, which spun off the top-40 hits "Hot Girls In Love" and "Queen Of The Broken Hearts". In the summer of 1985 they released their fourth album Lovin' Every Minute Of It, and the title track became its first single. It was written by Robert "Mutt" Lange, whose work with Def Leppard can be heard influencing the sound of this song, even though Heavy Metal producer Tom Allom (Judas Priest, Black Sabbath) handled the studio work...

"Lovin' Every Minute Of It" became Loverboy's first top-10 pop hit in the U.S. in November of 1985, while scaling to #3 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock radio chart. Surprisingly, the single stopped short of that in their native Canada, peaking at a frustrating #11.

Up tomorrow: Philly boys get Tempted to do a remake.
