Rick Springfield - "Bop 'Til You Drop"
from the album Hard To Hold (Original Soundtrack) (1984)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #20 (one week)
Weeks in the Top-40: 9

Today's Song of the Day is by singer, musician, songwriter, and actor Rick Springfield, who took a break from his stint on General Hospital to film the movie Hard To Hold. After its release in the summer of 1984, the soundtrack spun off the top-5 pop single "Love Somebody" as well as a top-40 follow-up in "Don't Walk Away". For his third release, the man who normally played Dr. Noah Drake put out the frenetic pop of "Bop 'Til You Drop", written by the singer and produced will Bill Drescher...

Oh lord. Somebody was definitely on something to come up with this video concept.

"Bop Til You Drop" reached the top-20 on the American pop chart in October of 1984. It would be his last (so far) to reach that level. The single also spent six weeks on the dance club play chart, peaking at #47.

Up tomorrow: "The Mod" isn't that fortunate...
