Brit Sweep: October 27, 2013...


Hey gang, the end of the weekend is here, and time to check out the songs reaching the top 100 on the just-released official singles chart in Britain this week...

We have a new winner here, and the top selling single of the week is New Zealand native Lorde with her international smash hit "Royals". It's one of two songs by the singer/songwriter entering the chart this week...

Coming in at the runner-up spot is the last season X Factor winner James Arthur with his second single and my "Brit Pick of the Week" "You're Nobody 'Til Somebody Loves You". His first, "Impossible", topped the chart for three weeks at the end of last year...


Dutch brother techno act Showtek debut at #5 with their first hit single in the UK, "Booyah" featuring vocals by Sonny Wilson and production by We Are Loud....


The vocal group that came in fourth to James Arthur on the X Factor UK, Union J, nab their second top-10 single with "Beautiful Life" at #8. Their debut "Carry You" went to #6 earlier this year...


Eminem's "Survival", which was his second track released in the US from his upcoming Marshall Mathers 2, is his third arrival on British shores at #22. Lead-off single "Berzerk" drops from #7 to #21, while "Rap God" falls from #5 to #18...


The third non-album single in a row from Justin Bieber, "Hold Tight", comes in at #28. Last week's "All That Matters" plummets from #20 all the way to #83, but it's one of two new Biebs tracks debuting...


Swedish electrpop duo Icona Pop follow up their #1 UK single "I Love It" with "All Night" at #31


The vocal group ReConnected, which has two of the members of Britain's Got Talent finalists Connected, score their second top-40 hit at #33 with "Time Of Our Lives". It's one notch below what their first single "One In A Million" peaked at...


Jamaican dancehall king Sean Paul returns at #35 with "Turn It Up", the second single from his Full Frequency album. The first, "The Other Side Of Love", went to #7 in this country...


American rapper Tyga enters at #41 with "Wait For A Minute" featuring Justin Bieber. The former's only other lead-artist hit was "Rack City" which made it to #39...


The fourth track from British rapper Dizzee Rascal's The Fifth record to make the chart is "Love This Town" featuring Teddy Sky at #43. The first, "Goin' Crazy", went to #5 earlier this year...


Another home-grown rap artist, Sway, is in at #44 with "No Sleep" featuring KSI and Tigger Da Author. Sway had his first top-ten hit in the UK with "Level Up" last year..


Taylor Swift is back at #45 with her song from the soundtrack to the movie One Chance, "Sweeter Than Fiction"...


Londoner Little Nikki debuts at #53 with, appropriately, "Little Nikki Says"...


Katy Perry's Prism album debuts at #1 on the albums chart here in Britain, and two more of the songs from the album sell enough to place on the singles chart. First at #60 is "Unconditionally"...


Hip-hop rapper and singer Ms. Dynamite is back at #62 with "Cloud 9" featuring drum and bass remixer Shy FX. She has had three top-10 singles, with her featured credit on Katy B's "Lights On" her highest at #4...


Made In Chelsea cast member Andy Jordan puts his song "Whole Lot of Water" in at #71...


Alt-dance producer Diplo is in at #72 with "Boy Oh Boy"...


The second track from Lorde to make the chart is her album-leading "Tennis Court" at #78..


The other Katy Perry song to make the list is her dance party "Walking On Air" at #80..



Singer/songwriter Jake Bugg enters at #81 with "Slumville Sunrise". It's the second single from his upcoming sophomore album Shangri-La; "What Doesn't Kill You" made it to #44...


The final debut of the week at #97 is a cover of Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball" by Alonzo Holt, but sadly, there's no audio clip available...
