Songoftheday 10/4/13 - I've never had this feeling before I've never wanted anyone more, and something in your eyes tells me you feel the way that I do...

Julio Iglesias & Diana Ross - "All Of You"
from the albums 1100 Bel Air Place and Swept Away (1984)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #19 (two weeks)
Weeks in the Top-40: 8

Today's Song of the Day paired up the Spanish superstar that just got his big break in the English-language market with "To All The Girls I've Loved Before", Julio Iglesias, with the former Supreme turned solo diva powerhouse, Diana Ross, who was actually going through a "cooler" period, with her last album spawning only one moderately successful top-40 single, "Pieces Of Ice".

"All Of You", which was written by Julio with Tony Renis along with lyricist Cynthia Weil, appeared on both his and Ross' 1984 albums. It was produced by Richard Perry, who helmed the Pointer Sisters' hugely successful Break Out album, and returned the two artists to the pop top-20..

"All Of You" reached the pop top-20 in the US in September of 1984, and also made the R&B chart at #38 as well. The records biggest market was on adult-contemporary (easy-listening) radio, where the single peaked at #2. It was a big hits around the world, making the top-10 in Canada and Italy, and topping the chart in Spain, but in England it stalled right under the top-40 at #43.

It would be Julio's final top-40 hit in American, though he would have a minor hit in 1988 with another collaboration, this time with Stevie Wonder on "My Love". However his biggest contribution to the American pop scene was through his son, Enrique, who would go on to have a huge career in the 90s and naughties and today.

Up tomorrow: the King of Pop's brother goes boom.
