Today's Song of the Day is by the lite-arena rock band Night Ranger, who scored a top-5 pop hit with the second single from their second album, the power-ballad "Sister Christian". For its follow-up they released the more uptempo "When You Close Your Eyes", this time written by bass player and future Damn Yankee Jack Blades along with second guitarist Brad Gillis and keyboard player Alan Fitzgerald. Its music video somewhat expounded on the good girl growing up theme of their first hit, though placing her as the harrowed wife of a chimpanzee (I guess Santorum's worst nightmare), with drummer Kelly Keagy (major hotness) sharing the vocals with Blades...

"When You Close Your Eyes" became the band's second top-20 hit in September of 1984, and also did the same on the rock radio chart in Billboard as well.
