Today's Song of the Day is by the rock group Night Ranger, who came together in the early 80's under singer/bassist Jack Blades, who recruited Kelly Keagy and Brad Gillis from their old band Rubicon. After adding the "Night" to their original name after a similarly monikered country group threatened to sue, the newly-christened Night Ranger released their first album in 1982. The first single released from it was the melodic hard rock of "Don't Tell Me You Love Me", written by Blades and produced by Pat Glasser...

"Don't Tell Me You Love Me" stayed at the bottom of the pop top-40 for three weeks, and was a big hit on rock radio, peaking at #4. By the time of their second album, they would tone down the rock edge of their sound (though they were pretty clean-cut as it is) and have much bigger success.
