Twostepcub's New Album Roundup 11/13/22...

Good Sunday, everyone - it's time for this week's new album round-up, where I sample my picks of the best of the albums making their debut on Billboard magazine's sales charts as well as the same across the pond in the United Kingdom. You can check out yesterday's new singles recap by clicking here...

Revolver (Super Deluxe Edition) - The Beatles
Billboard 200 re-entry: #4
British Albums Sales re-entry: #2
Choice cuts: "Eleanor Rigby" and "I'm Only Sleeping"

Well, my favorite Beatles album gets the "super deluxe" treatment, with a brand new stereo mix, as well as a disc of outtake, a fresher mono mix disc, and the "Paperback Writer"/"Rain" single that is the perfect accompaniment to the set. Timeless as always, as measured simply by the above two songs, in my humble opinion their best.

The Essential Foo Fighters - Foo Fighters
Billboard 200 debut: #42
Billboard Current Albums Sales debut: #7
British Albums Sales debut: #10
Choice cut: "Learn To Fly"

You can tell it's a "slower" week when the top two choices on here are of older material. After the untimely death of drummer Taylor Hawkins, this retrospective only becomes more poignant, and their place in the rock pantheon (I say as much as Dave Grohl's former band) is proven again and again.

Bell Bottom Country - Lainey Wilson
Billboard 200 debut: #100
Billboard Current Albums Sales debut: #14
Choice cut: "Heart Like A Truck"

No matter what the country music industry tries to claim, women are still being given the short shrift on the radio. It's a damn shame, as they have kept the story-telling tradition of the genre alive. Lainey's world-weary but clear-as-a-bell delivery make this a stand out.

Waiting To Spill - Backseat Lovers
Billboard Current Albums Sales debut: #18
Choice cut: "Growing/Dying"

This alternative rock group from Utah takes equal inspiration from the Beatles and the Pixies in their sophomore effort.

Holidays Around The World - Pentatonix
Billboard Current Albums Sales debut: #23
Choice Cut: "Prayers For This World"

A Capella royalty returns with yet another holiday set (their sixth!) but at least they are taking some chances on this one, including this new song about the troubles in the world today that doesn't leave you in despair.

Billboard Current Albums Sales debut: #34
Choice cut: "It's So Hard To Hold On"

The Duluth, Minnesota-based indie folk band are back with their ninth album of some beautiful but lyrically meaty songs.

Fever Dream - Palaye Royale
Billboard Current Albums Sales debut: #50
Choice cut: "No Love In LA"

If you were disappointed by the latest Panic At The Disco album, give this set from the Las Vegas band a try.

El Bueno y El Malo - Hermanos Gutierrez
Billboard Current Albums Sales debut: #60
Choice cut: "Tres Hermanos"

Swiss/Ecuadorean brothers get big production help from the Black Keys' Dan Auerbach in this below-the-border instrumental gem of a collection of songs. It's great mood music for getting chores done on a breezy day.

Car Therapy Sessions (EP) - Faye Webster
Billboard Current Albums Sales debut: #65
Choice cut: "Car Therapy"

This may be my fave of the bunch this week. Singer/songwriter Webster brings us a beautifully produced and short but bittersweet five songs of love and pain that sound simply through the headphones.

Billboard Current Albums Sales debut: #75
Choice cut: "Something Wicked (This Way Comes)"

The veteran new wave outfit put together a collection built around the Halloween/All Souls Day season, including some B-sides, one-offs, as well as their biggest American hit, "Peek-A-Boo".

A Night Of A Thousand Vampires: Live In London - The Damned
Billboard Current Albums Sales debut: #76
Choice cut: "Wait For The Blackout"

Speaking of "spooky" released, the long-time post-punk revelers from England regroup in their original incarnation for their triumphant tour that this release documents.

Nobody's Fool - Joanne Shaw Taylor
Billboard Current Albums Sales debut: #90
Choice cut: "Just No Getting Over You"

Fans of Bonnie Raitt's older material should really check out the latest from this British blues-rock artist who was original discovered by Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics back when she was a teen.

Triggered  - Massive Wagons
British Albums Sales chart debut: #6
Choice cut: "Fuck The Haters"

This British pub band from Lancaster straddles the lines between punk and eclecticism with this diverse set that still delivers the melodic fist-pumping goods like this anthem.

The Best Day In My Life - Tom Odell
British Albums Sales chart debut: #7
Choice cut: "Best Day In My Life"

Indie electro-folk singer/songwriter paints some nice pictures in his fifth release. The record is haunting and pretty at the same time.

Will Of The People - Paul Weller
British Albums Sales chart debut: #15
Choice cut: "Into The Sea"

Weller, music icon of the Jam and the Style Council, puts out and odds and ends retrospective of his solo work that's just as entrancing as her better-known work.

Heart & Soul - Blue
British Albums Sales chart debut: #22
Choice cut: "Haven't Found You Yet"

The grown-up boy-band should be very proud of their first album in seven years; it's a pop record that's mature, thoughtful, and musically interesting, and their in their best voices here.

The Hunna - The Hunna
British Albums Sales chart debut: #30
Choice cut: "Trash"

In a week where most of the good stuff is on the softer side, and the rock releases are mostly metalcore noise, this fourth album from the British rock trio is the perfect get your rage out in the car listen. And their video game is on point.

Well that's it for this week. Tell me what's your fave of the bunch, or something else new not mentioned here. Cheers!
