Disco Dessert 11/11/22 - "Hey Mr. D.J." by Zhane'...

"Hey Mr. D.J." was a club and radio hit for the alternative soul duo Zhane'. Appearing on their debut album Pronounced Jah-Ney, the song was written by the group's Renee Neufville and producer DJ Keir "KayGee" Gist along with Zane Grey and Leon Ware, who wrote the song "Looking Up To You" by Michael Wyckoff that this record samples. The house music remix was done by Maurice Joshua who removed that sample for a different groove. On Billboard magazine's Dance Club Play chart, the single spent two weeks at #2 in 1993, while reaching #6 on the Pop Hot 100 and #3 on the R&B Singles chart.
