twostepcub's music chart for August 27, 2021...

Friday's here, and it's time to run down my top 100 "hit" tunes from the previous week. Ed Sheeran reigns for a third week, while Galantis and David Guetta with Little Mix (pictured above) climb three notches within the top ten. Songs from Big Red Machine/Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa, and Volbeat make the biggest jumps (moves of 10+ places highlighted in red), while a former big hit from Miranda Lambert drops out. And right under the list, everything is Spotify playlisted for five and a half hours of listening goodness. Another year older, but not any wiser...

Along with two songs re-entering my list, there are nine songs making their debut (highlighted in blue), and if you click on any of them, you'll connect to that artist's official website for more info on them. And here they are on video, after the break..

(Click below to see the rest of the post)

The top debut of the week belongs to Silk Sonic, the retro-soul project from Anderson Paak and Bruno Mars, who spent ten weeks on top of my chart with "Leave The Door Open", which is still at #13 here. Their new hit, the roller-disco homage "Skate", barrels in all the way up at #34...

Meanwhile the Weeknd is back at #46 by also going the nostalgia route, albeit a decade later in the 1980s, with his latest, "Take My Breath"...

As the revamp of Cinderella starring Camila Cabello is ready to be released, her new song "Don't Go You" arrives at #80. The song will be on Camila's third album Familia...

R&B singer Leela James first appeared on my chart back in 2016 with "Don't Want You Back". James figures in at #92 this time with "Complicated"...

Billie Eilish moves in at #94 with the title track from her #1 album Happier Than Ever...

At #95 are two acts than are already on my list, as British singer Anne-Marie (#44 with "Our Song") teams up with Little Mix (#6 with "Heartbreak Anthem") for "Kiss My (Uh-Oh)"...

Back in 2019, indie-rock newcomer Sam Fender topped the British albums sales chart with his debut set Hypersonic Missiles. Sam previews his sophomore effort at #96 with the title track "Seventeen Going Under"...

Just like he did with J. Balvin on the remake of "In Da Getto" at #83, DJ Skrillex pairs with another Latin music star, Jhay Cortez, at #98 for "En Mi Cuarto" ("In My Room")...

The final newbie of the week comes from rapper Roddy Ricch, who slips in at #100 with "Late At Night"...
