Disco Dessert 8/16/20 - "Runaway" from the Salsoul Orchestra featuring Loleatta Holloway...

 

 

"Runaway" was a club hit for the studio group the Salsoul Orchestra featuring vocals from the legendary Loleatta Holloway. Appearing on their album Magic Journey, the song was produced by Vincent Montana, Jr., who wrote it with Ronnie James and Janice Gugliuzza. On Billboard magazine's National Disco Action Top-40 chart, the Magic Journey album was listed as one entry, with "Magic Bird Of Fire" (which I previously covered on DD), "Getaway", and "Runaway" offered as key cuts. The record peaked there at #3 in 1977, while slipping on to their R&B chart at #84.
