Songoftheday 8/15/20 - I got this feeling and I just can't turn it loose, that somebody's been getting next to you...

"In My Bed" - Dru Hill
from the album Dru Hill (1996)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #4 (one week)
Weeks in the Top-40: 21

Today's song of the day comes from the soul vocal group Dru Hill, who reached the top-20 on the American pop chart with their debut single "Tell Me" from the movie Eddie in the fall of 1996.  For their follow-up the group, led by singer Mark "Sisqo" Andrews, released "In My Bed", which converts the Goldilocks and the Three Bears tale to one of a cheating lover. The track was produced by Daryl Simmons and Ralph Stacy, who wrote it with Raphael Brown. Released in two mixes, the album version and the hip-hop oriented "So So Def" remix from producer Jermaine Dupri, the song got double the single sales as well as radio and MTV/BET exposure...

"In My Bed" landed the group their first top ten pop hit in March of 1997. The song was Dru Hill's first #1 on Billboard's R&B chart. Internationally, the single reached the top-40 in Germany (#14), the UK (#16), New Zealand (#25), and Switzerland (#31).
