Disco Dessert 8/1/20 - "Devil's Gun" from C.J. & Co....

"Devil's Gun" was a club and radio hit for the Detroit band C.J. & Company. Appearing on their debut album Devil's Gun, the song was produced by the act's leaders Mike Theodore and Dennis Coffey (a hitmaker of his own right from the 1960s), and written by Barry Blue, Ron Roker, and Gerry Shury, On Billboard magazine's National Disco Action Top-40, the Devil's Gun album charted as a single entry, with "Devil's Gun", "We Got Our Own Thing", and "Sure Can't Go To The Moon" listed as key cuts. The record spent five weeks at #1 in 1977. "Devil's Gun" also was a top-40 pop hit at #36, and went to #2 on Billboard's R&B chart.
