Songoftheday 1/4/13 - All alone on my own, since I walked out on you I walked out on me now it's gone...
The Little River Band - "We Two"
from the album The Net (1983)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #22 (two weeks)
Weeks in the Top-40: 6
Today's Song of the Day is by the Australian soft-rock act The Little River Band, who changed over lead singers to John Farnham in time for their Greatest Hits album in 1982. The hit single from that set, "The Other Guy", just missed the top-10 in the US. The band quickly released their seventh studio album in 1983, and the first single, "We Two", was written by guitarist Graeham Goble and produced by the band with Ernie Rose, and picked up right where they left off with their last single helmed by Glenn Shorrock, "Man On Your Mind"...
While the single made the pop top-40 in the US, as well as peaking at #17 on the adult-contemporary ("easy-rock") chart, the single missed the same mark in their home country. Perhaps their fans were more loyal to Shorrock. But I feel like this song (like the rest of the Net album) matches their best work from earlier.

...and here's the same video with the original live vocals from the concert in 1983...
Up tomorrow: Tony Manero in leggings. A soundtrack.
