SOTD - I used to dream it would last forever, but pipe dreams never come true...

The Little River Band - "Man On Your Mind"
from the album Time Exposure (1981)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #14 (three weeks)
weeks in top 40: 8

Today's Song of the Day is by Australian rock group the Little River Band. The band was formed in the mid-70's from members of various antipodean groups, and fronted by singer Glenn Shorrock. Up to 1982 they scored five pop top-10 records in the US, including their biggest, the #3 "Reminiscing". Surprisingly though, in their own homeland they only had one during the same period, the #1 "Help Is On The Way" (which I remember taking the 8-track of the album to a school dance to play, what a freaking dork I was). "Man On Your Mind", the third single from the band's 1981 LP Time Exposure after top-10 hits "Take It Easy On Me" and "Night Owls", was the last top-40 hit for Shorrock with the band before being replaced by John Farnham.

The song remains my favorite LRB track. The band continued under Farnham for a few more hits, before Shorrock returned for another stint. The band continues today (under another singer) on the nostaglia rock circuit.
