Songoftheday 1/9/13 - Are you sure I haven’t loved you somewhere before? In another time, another place, on some distant shore...
Kenny Rogers - "All My Life"
from the album We've Got Tonight (1983)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #37 (two weeks)
Weeks in the Top-40: 3
Today's Song of the Day is by country-pop superstar Kenny Rogers, who started off 1983 with a top-10 remake of Bob Seger's "We've Got Tonight" redone as a duet with Scottish singer Sheena Easton. For the followup single, Kenny released "All My Life", co-written by future top-40 resident Van Stephenson.
[Somehow, this is the first song that I've come across that there's no video for anywhere, or even listen to, BOOO!!!!!!!]
While the song was a big hit on soft-rock radio, going to #2, it failed to make the top-10 on the country chart, peaking at #13, and spent a few weeks in the pop top-40. Two of the writers, Stephenson and Dave Robbins, would eventually go on to form the country trio Blackhawk.
Up tomorrow: British ska-kings take you home.
