Country Sweep: January 26, 2013...
Hey gang, welcome back to part four of today's "chart sweeps" of the newest song making the weekly music charts in Billboard magazine. This time I've got the latest on country radio...
On the Country Airplay chart, The Zac Brown Band spend a third week at #1 with "Goodbye In Her Eyes"....
As her "Begin Again" remains at #10, Taylor Swift's third country radio single from her Red album, "All Too Well", chimes in at #58. If you want proof of Swift using her romantic revolving door to feed her musical output, you don't have to go any farther than this grandiose sadfest, but sonically it works better than some of her other whiny output. Grade: B-
The other new song this week is by newcomer Charlie Worsham with his first chart hit, "Could It Be" at #60. This is pure old-school (well, 90s old-school) country, but Worsham's bright tenor backed with sweet harmonies and midtempo backbeat is a real winner. Grade: B
That's it for the country wing of the room.....I'll be back in 90 to close up shop with the latest dance jams on the radio and in the clubs...
