Rock Sweep: August 30, 2014...


Round two of this week's "chart sweeps" is up, with the latest music to make the radio charts in Billboard magazine. This time out it's the newest on rock radio...

On the main Rock Airplay chart Aussie Vance Joy spends his second week at #1 with "Riptide"...

Nu-metal veterans Korn come in at #48 with "Hater", the third single from their expanded Paradigm Shift album. The first, "Never Never", went to #13 on this list. "Hater" also moves up to #13 on the Mainstream Rock format chart...

The other entry at #49 is alt-rock band Young The Giant with the title track to their second album Mind Over Matter. It follows "It's About Time", which climbed to #5 on this list. Their new one also moves up to #24 on the Alternative chart...



And now onward to the rock radio format lists...

On the Mainstream Rock radio panel, Godsmack spends their second week on top with "1000hp"...

British metalcore band Asking Alexandria score the third hit on this chart from their From Death To Destiny album as "Moving On" is in at #33. They went to #17 with the second release, "Break Down The Walls"...


Sleepwave, a new project from Christian metalcore act Underoath's lead singer Spencer Chamberlain, arrives at #37 with "Through The Looking Glass"...


Meanwhile, on the Alternative/Modern Rock chart, the aforementioned "Riptide" is at #1 for a second week...

Toronto-based dance-punk duo Death From Above 1979 land the sole debut at #36 with "Trainwreck 1979", my "Rock Pick of the Week". The group was name-checked on CSS's "Let's Make Love and Listen To Death From Above", a top-40 hit in England in 2007...


Lastly, on the Triple-A (or "adult album alternative") format, Milky Chance reigns for a second week with "Stolen Dance"...

English art-rock group alt-J cross over to this chart at #26 with "Left Hand Free". The song also moves up to #10 on the Alternative chart...
