Songoftheday 6/25/14 - You walked in on the sly scopin' for love, in the crowd I caught your eye you can't hide your stuff...

Aretha Franklin - "Who's Zoomin' Who"
from the album Who's Zoomin' Who (1985)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #7 (one week)
Week sin the Top-40: 13

Today's Song of the Day is by the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, who had a big pop comeback with her peppy retro jam with futuristic synth sounds "Freeway Of Love". As its follow-up she released the title track from her album, written by Aretha with producer Narada Michael Walden and Preston Glass. It has her sassin' a "player" in the club....

"Who's Zoomin' Who" became Aretha's second consecutive top-10 pop hit from the album in November of 1985, the first time she's had back-to-back top ten hits since 1971. The record was also a big crossover hit, going to #2 on the R&B chart, #10 on the adult contemporary radio chart, and topped Billboard's dance club play chart for a week. Internationally, the single stopped at #11 in the UK (where it was a much bigger hit than "Freeway" was), #19 in Canada, and # 38 in Australia.
