Songoftheday 6/22/14 - Hey baby, I'm talking to you stop yourself and listen, Some things you can never choose even if you try...

Heart - "Never"
from the album Heart (1985)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #4 (one week)
Weeks in the top-40: 14

Today's song of the day is brought to us from the rock group Heart, who had a big pop "comeback" after a label and lineup shakeup in the early 80s, scoring a top-10 single with "What About Love". For its follow-up the band released the mainstream arena rock anthem "Never", written by lead singer Ann Wilson along with song doctor Holly Knight and Walter 'Greg' Bloch.

"Never" became Heart's fourth top-10 hit (and highest rank so far in their career at that point) in December of 1985, while climbing to #2 on the Mainstream Rock radio chart in Billboard magazine. Internationally, the single made it to #13 in Canada, but in England it took until 1988 for the record to become a hit, climbing to #8 in a double-sided single with "These Dreams".
