Album Sweep: June 14, 2014 - Part Two...


It's time to move on to the second half of this week's "album sweep", sampling the records that are making their debut on Billboard magazine's Top 200 Albums chart. As always, I've included highlighted links to buy the records and a few of the artists' other major works. Support the talent!

Pop singer/songwriter Jordan Witzigreuter, who records under the moniker the Ready Set, debuts at #75 with his first charting full-length album The Bad & The Better...

The biggest movie of last weekend, Disney's live-action "prequel story" to Sleeping BeautyMaleficent starring Angelina Jolie, its soundtrack featuring score music from James Newton Howard (The Fugitive) and one track from Lana Del Rey (the rework of Sleeping Beauty song "Once Upon A Dream") comes in at #79...


Nashville electro-pop duo Cherub land at #90 with their first charting set Year Of The Caprese. (Beware, NSFW for some tittehs and butts)...


New Orleans sludge-metal band Eyehategod enter at #92 with their self-titled fifth album. Guitarist Jimmy Bower had formerly played drums for fellow sludgers Crowbar who are also debuting this week at #68 (they're on part one of this week's sweep)...


Americana artist John Fullbright shuffles in at #94 with his Songs...


Swedish power-metal band Sabaton score their first hit album in America as Heroes is in at #99. The record topped the album chart in their home country, and went top-10 in Germany and Poland...


California-based acoustic rock duo This Wild Life enters at #118 with Clouded...


The original cast recording to the new Broadway musical Aladdin sails in at #126. The show opened back in March, and includes songs from the 1992 movie, along with ones cut from the film and new ones written by Tim Rice with Chad Beguelin...


Philly-area soul singer AverySunshine comes in at #175 with The Sun Room, her second album.


The soundtrack to the Jon Favreau movie Chef serves it up at #184...


Former Megadeth guitarist Marty Friedman rocks in at #186 with his latest album Inferno. After leaving the band he's relocated to Japan, becoming a TV star there...


Britney's sister Jamie Lynn Spears makes her debut at #193 with the country EP The Journey...


The final new entry of the week at #197 comes from gospel singer Guy Penrod, who sang lead for the Gaither Vocal Band for fourteen years, with Worship. He previously went to #85 with his last album Hymns...
