Brit Sweep: June 30, 2014...


A day late and a pound short, but I've got the newest songs in Britain according to their official chart.

The #1 song in the UK this week is the first hit for Dutch electro-house producer Oliver Heldens with "Gecko" featuring vocals from The Voice UK finalist Becky Hill...

The third single from dance music singer/rapper Example's Live Life Living album, "One More Day (Stay With Me)", become the set's first top-10 hit at #4. It's my "Brit Pick of the Week"....



Usher scores his 18th top-10 single in the UK as "Good Kisser" arrives at #10. He's topped the charts here four times, the most recent with "OMG" in 2010...


Ed Sheeran had a smashing week, with his second album x selling 182,000 copies in its first week, which was about how many of the #1 album in America (Lana Del Rey's Ultraviolence) sold. And besides official single "Sing" at #3, nine other tracks from the set sell enough on their own to make it on to the chart. First up at #19 is "Don't"...


Ed's "Thinking Out Loud" drops in at #26...


Belgian DJ/producer Dimitri Vegas (aka Dimitri Thivaios) enters at #30 with "Tremor" with Dutch spinner Martin Garrix...


We're back to Sheeran with his "Photograph" which is in at #44..


...while his "Afire Love", which made the top-40 in the U.S., comes in at #71...


One notch below that is Sheeran's "I'm A Mess" at #72...


....as "Bloodstream" enters the chart at #81...


Ed's "The Man" strikes the chart at #87...


The last of the Sheeran songs to reach the singles chart on its own is "Tenerife Sea" at #93...


Folk rock singer/songwriter George Ezra follows up his current top-5 single "Budapest" with "Leaving It Up To You" at #95...


Vine star and teen idol Shawn Mendes has the final debut of the week with "Life Of The Party" at #99...
