Songoftheday 10/20/13 - Two kinds of people in this world winners, losers, I lost my power in this world 'cause I did not use it...

Lindsey Buckingham - "Go Insane"
from the album Go Insane (1984)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #23 (one week)
Weeks in the Top-40: 9

Today's Song of the Day is by singer/songwriter/guitarist Lindsey Buckingham, who helped helm Fleetwood Mac to their biggest artistic and commercial success after joining with Stevie Nicks in the mid-70s. He wrote and sung lead on top-ten singles like "Go Your Own Way" and "Tusk". Taking a break from the band in 1981, Lindsey released his first solo set Law & Order, and immediate scored a top-10 pop hit with "Trouble".

After he returned to the band for the 1982 #1 album Mirage and the subsequent tour, Lindsey again found time to record a second album, Go Insane, which came out in 1984. The title track, full of synth licks and a hypnotizing chorus, was released as the first single...

"Go Insane" became Lindsey's second and most recent top-40 pop hit in the US in October of 1984. The single also was a huge hit on rock radio, peaking at #4 on the format chart in Billboard.

His followup, "Slow Dancing", missed the Hot 100 altogether, appearing on the "Bubbling Under" chart in the magazine at #104. Lindsey would officially leave Fleetwood Mac in 1987, but not releasing a third album until 1992. That record, Out Of The Cradle, and while he didn't get any pop action from the set, two of the tracks, "Countdown" and "Wrong" showed up on the Mainstream Rock list. He would come back to the Mac in 1997 for their #1 reunion album The Dance.
