Songoftheday 4/1/13 - We are strong no one can tell us we're wrong, searching our hearts for so long...

Pat Benatar - "Love Is A Battlefield"
from the album Live From Earth (1983)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #5 (one week)
Weeks in the Top-40: 14

Today's Song of the Day is for many the most recognized song from hard-rockin' Pat Benatar, who had a great 1982 with her fourth album Get Nervous, her first to score three top-40 hits in the US with "Shadows Of The Night", "Little Too Late", and "Looking For A Stranger". A year later, she released her first live album, Live From Earth, recorded during her tour for the last set, and it also included two new studio recordings. One of them, "Love Is A Battlefield", was issued as a single complete with big-budget video designed for MTV complete with a Pat Benatar skank-dance sequence, to the song written by go-to girl Holly Knight and Mike Chapman, and co-produced by Pat's husband, Neil Geraldo...

"Love Is A Battlefield" was Pat's first #1 hit on the rock radio chart, and also topped the pop chart in Australia for seven weeks. It's tied with "We Belong" for her biggest hit in America, and brought "the boob shake" dance move to the mainstream public.
