Today's Song of the Day is by singer/songwriter Jackson Browne, whose 1983 album Lawyers In Love had already produced a top-20 hit with the title track. For the follow-up he released the midtempo "Tender Is The Night", a lite-pop number with doo-wop-ish undertones written by Browne with bandmates Danny Kortchmar and Russ Kunkel and produced by the singer with Greg Ladanyi. The video featured his then-girlfriend Daryl Hannah...

"Tender Is The Night" became Jackson's ninth top-40 pop hit, reached the same area of the adult contemporary chart, and went to #18 on rock radio.
