Songoftheday 2/7/13 - I can't keep up with what's been going down I think my heart must just be slowing down...

Jackson Browne - "Lawyers In Love"
from the album Lawyers In Love (1983)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #13 (two weeks)
Weeks in the Top-40: 12

Today's Song of the Day is by country-rock singer/songwriter Jackson Browne, who scored the biggest hit of his career in 1982 with "Somebody's Baby" from the movie Fast Times At Ridgemont High. The record he released after that, Lawyers In Love, signaled a turn towards a more politically-charged songwriting, with Reagan-era Cold-War disconnected jingoism in his sights....

"Lawyers In Love" reached the top-20 on the pop chart (his sixth and most recent to do so), and peaked at #4 on the rock radio chart (the same rank "Somebody's Baby" achieved). It also went to the top-30 on the adult-contemporary chart. The similarly titled album was Jackson's third and final to reach the top-10 on the LP chart.

...and here's Jackson in concert saying how it's his "favorite song" since it's so misunderstood...

Up tomorrow: a flapper classic gets redone by a Dutch Indonesian named for a Mexican treat.
