Songoftheday 8/6/12 - Who said the crazy moon doesn't shine...

Toto - "Make Believe"
from the album Toto IV (1982)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #30 (three weeks)
Weeks in the top-40: 5

Today's Song of the Day is by the rock group Toto, who came together in Los Angeles in 1976 from session musicians for the likes of Steely Dan and Boz Scaggs. They released their self-titled debut album in 1978, and in return got themselves a top-5 pop hit, "Hold The Line".

The band would wait another four years for their next big hit, which came with the release of their fourth album, Toto IV.  The first single, "Rosanna", became their biggest hit at that time, and the follow-up single, "Make Believe", written by member David Paich, followed it into the top-40.

While the track undeservedly didn't reach the heights that "Rosanna" did, Toto would make up for it on their next single, "Africa" which would become their highest-charting song to date.
