Songoftheday 8/20/12 - I hear your high-heels clickin' down the boulevard...

.38 Special - "You Keep Runnin' Away"
from the album Special Forces (1982)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #38 (two weeks)
Weeks in the top-40: 2

Today's Song of the Day is by the southern rock group .38 Special, who by the fall of 1982 had already scored their biggest album and single with the top-10 "Caught Up In You" in July. Their followup to that song was "You Keep Running Away", written by lead vocalist Don Barnes, guitarist Jeff Carlisi, and Survivor's Jim Peterik....

The song scraped the pop top-40 for a couple of weeks, but it was one of the three top-10 songs off the album on the rock radio chart (the pop-non-charting "Chain Lightning" followed this one). And I do admit I think this song cribs quite a bit from the 1973 Slade (and eventually Quiet Riot) hit "Cum On Feel The Noize". I don't know why.....

Up tomorrow: A procrastination ode by the firetruck-named boys.
