Disco Dessert 9/11/21 - "Yes Sir, I Can Boogie" by Baccara...

 

 

"Yes Sir, I Can Boogie" was a huge international disco hit for the Spanish duo Baccara. Appearing on their self-titled debut album, the track was written by Germans Frank Dostal and producer Rolf Soja. The song never made the charts in America, but was a massive success in Europe, going to the top of the singles charts in the UK, Germany, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Ireland, and the Netherlands ub 1977. The following year, Maria Mendola and Mayte Matoes represented the country of Luxembourg at the Eurovision Song Contest, coming in seventh with "Parlez-Vous Francais".  Sadly, Maria Mendola of the group died today.
