Songoftheday 2/14/21 - Makin ya run me and my Dunn, stackin my ones floss a lil' invest up in a mutual fund...

"Dangerous" - Busta Rhymes
from the album When Disaster Strikes (1997)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #9 (one week)
Weeks in the Top-40: 9

Today's song of the day comes from rap artist Busta Rhymes, who landed in the top 40 on Billboard magazine's Hot 100 Airplay chart with the first song from his second album When Disaster Strikes promoted to radio, "Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Can See" in the fall of 1997.  His follow-up and the first commercially available "single" release from the record would be "Dangerous". Written by Busta along with Freddy Stonewall, Henry Stone, and producer Rashad Smith, the track is a rollicking boast about himself and his squad, while the music video mimicking Lethal Weapon proves once again how he has mastered the visual form quite well...

"Dangerous" became Busta's second pop top ten in America in February of 1998. The song also climbed to #4 on Billboard's R&B chart, and spent a week at #1 on their Rap Singles chart. Internationally, the single reached the top-40 in New Zealand (#11) and the UK (#32). At the Grammy Awards in 1999, Busta was again nominated for Best Rap Solo Performance for "Dangerous" for the third year running, losing for the second time to Will Smith for his "Gettin' Jiggy With It".
