"Hometown" is the new single from "out" country artist Brandon Stansell, who went from dancing behind Taylor Swift to starting his own music career in front of the mic. From his stellar Slow Down album that was released last year (seriously, go pick it up), the song now sports a new and powerful video that depicts a slice of country life where LBGTQ kids are shunned by their own families, leaving them to build new ones to nurture themselves. When country music advertises itself as the genre that "tells stories", yet whose radio stations are inundated with bro posturing and come-on tags, this type of song is exactly what true country is about. Telling stories about all kinds of people in the South (and all over, for that matter).
