Robbed Hit of the Week 6/17/13 - Jackson Browne's "For A Rocker"...
Jackson Browne - "For A Rocker"
from the album Lawyers In Love (1983)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #45
This week's "robbed hit" is by singer/songwriter Jackson Browne, whose 1983 album Lawyers In Love had scored him two top-40 hits with the title track and "Tender Is The Night", both which got A-list play on MTV. The third track released from the set was the comparatively less idea-driven rock of "For A Rocker", a song wrote for the recently past James Honeyman-Scott of the Pretenders, and produced by Browne with Greg Ladanyi. The dancing rhythm belies the mournful hint in the lyrics...
Though "For A Rocker" reached the top-10 on the rock radio chart, peaking at #8, it stalled outside the top-40 on the pop list (a lack of video didn't help).
