Aussie Sweep: June 12, 2013...
On this week's official music charts Down Under, Robin Thicke holds on for a fifth week at #1 with "Blurred Lines"...I guess my prediction on it becoming the song of the summer may hold true...
As this country's edition of The Voice is reaching its climax, the field of singers has been whittled down to eight, and all eight performances made the chart, along with the charity single done by one of the coaches, Delta Goodrem, who performed "Bayimi" with indigenous Australian musician Geoffrey "Gurrumul" Yunupingu, who rocket in at #4. Beautiful. The monies raised by the record will help indigenous kids in Northern Australia...

Last season's winner of The Voice Australia, Karise Eden, saw her first post-win single "You Won't Let Me" reach #5 last year. She's back at #19 with her second, "Threads Of Silence", which she performed on last week's show. It's my "Aussie Pick" of the week)...
For the first time this season, the top contestant entry for The Voice is by a woman, namely Celia Pavey from Delta's team, with "Will You Love Me Tomorrow" at #23...she's now in the finals...
One notch below Celia at #24 is Seal's team's Harrison Craig with the 70s Bread song "If", ensuring his place in the final four...
In a weird twist, even though soul singer Miss Murphy appears higher in the chart for her rendition of Smokey Robinson & The Miracles' "You Really Got A Hold On Me", her votes were no match for Luke Kennedy, and she ends up being the ejected member of Ricky Martin's Voice team, but coming in at #32 is a consolation (and I liked her performance better)..
Luke, meanwhile, enters at #35 with his vote-saving "Overjoyed" by Stevie Wonder...
In a break from the Voice, the next entry at #48 is Kelly Clarkson (coincidentally a singing competition veteran herself) with "People Like Us"...
Delta Goodrem's exiting teammate, Steve Clisby, took on Nina Simone's classic "Sunday In Savannah", and came in at a respectable #49...
Kiyomi Vella, who is on Joel Madden's Voice team, also found herself eliminated after selling more copies of her version of Eliza Doolittle's "Pack Up" than her teammate, and placing at #59...
The guy who beat her, Danny Ross, finds his version of Imagine Dragons' "It's Time" coming in at #69, even under the re-entering original version...
French DJ/producer Martin Solveig sneaks in amid the Voice din with "Hey Now" featuring the Cataracs and Kyle...
The final debut of the week is the last Voice single, Mitchell Anderson from Seal's team with Al Green's "Take Me To The River" at #83. He exited from the team...
That's it for tonight...I'll be back tomorrow with another Song of the Day, 7 of the 70s, and 8 from the 80s. G'day!
