Rock Sweep: June 8, 2013...
Hey gang, I'm ready for round two of today's "chart sweeps" tracking the new songs making it on to the weekly charts in Billboard magazine, and now I've got the latest on rock radio...
On the aggregate Hot Rock Airplay chart, Imagine Dragons top the list for a thirteenth week with "Radioactive"...
The top entry of the week at #25 is by the Stone Temple Pilots, who are caught up in quite the drama these days, as original lead singer Scott Weiland was fired yet again by the band and Linkin Park's Chester Bennington recruited to sing on their upcoming album. The band is now suing Weiland for going out on a solo tour which they claim was supposed to be a STP tour, while he is claiming they have no right to "fire" him from the band he started. Oh lord. Anyway, "Out Of Time" is the first chart appearance for the Pilots in any form since "Take A Load Off" reached #24 in 2010...

The other entry at #47 is Australian hard rock group Atlas Genius with the followup to their top-5 hit "Trojans", "If So"...
..and now for the rock format subcharts....
On the Mainstream Rock panel, Danish rockers Volbeat stay at #1 with "Hangman's Body Count", while the aforementioned "Out Of Time" is the high entry at #28...
One notch under the Pilots at #29 are the Sick Puppies, another Aussie hard rock outfit who went to #2 in 2009 with "You're Going Down". They're back with "There's No Going Back"...
Central Pennsy band Halestorm follow up their #1 MSR hit "Freak Like Me" at #36 with "Here's To Us", a song that was covered on Glee a year ago...
The last debut at #39 is British act Asking Alexandria with "The Death Of Me"....
Meanwhile, on the Alternative/Modern Rock list, The Neighbourhood still are celebrating spring at #1 with "Sweater Weather" for a second week, while the Stone Temple Pilots grab the top debut at #30.....
French rockers Phoenix come in at #32 with "Trying To Be Cool". They topped this chart in 2009 with "1901"...
Mumford & Sons pop in at #33 with the title track from their huge sophomore album, Babel....
The last entry at #40 is the aforementioned "There's No Going Back" by the Sick Puppies...
At the Triple-A (adult album alternative, or "hipster rock") format, Serena Ryder reigns for a fifth week with "Stompa"...
The sole debut at #29 is Denver band Churchill with the follow-up to their top-5 hit "Change", "The War Within", my "Rock Pick of the Week"...
On the harder-edged Active Rock panel, Volbeat claim #1 for a second week, while the Sick Puppies are the top entry at #29, with Stone Temple Pilots a notch below at #30, and Halestorm arriving at #36.
The only different debut of the week at #40 is Long Beach, California band Rival Sons, who have had success in Canada topping their rock charts, with "Keep On Swinging"...
Lastly, on the older-skewing Heritage Rock chart, Black Sabbath hold command of the top spot for a second week, while the aforementioned "Out Of Time" rockets in at #15....
That's all for the rock side of the house. I'll return in an hour and a half with the newest on R&B radio. Rock On!
