The Motels - "Remember The Nights"
from the album Little Robbers (1983)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #36 (one week)
Weeks in the Top-40: 3
Today's Song of the Day is by the pop/rock group The Motels , who claimed their second top-10 hit in 1983 with the lead-off single from their fourth album Little Robbers, "Suddenly Last Summer". For its followup the band released the dramatic "Remember The Nights", written by lead singer Martha Davis along with Scott Thurston, who was recruited into the band from Iggy & The Stooges (and would later go on to be a member of Tom Petty's Heartbreakers), and produced by Val Garay ("Bette Davis Eyes")...
"Remember The Nights" became the Motels' third top-40 pop hit, as well as reaching #12 on the rock radio chart. It would be their only record to spawn two top-40 hits....
