Kraut Sweep: September 18, 2012...
Good evening, and welcome to Kraut Sweep, where I give you a sample of the new music selling in Germany right now, according to their official music charts. This week Israeli singer Asaf Avidan & The Mojos spend a fifth week at #1 with "One Day/Reckoning Song"...
The top entry this week is by Berlin-based pop/reggae group Seeed, with their latest "Beautiful" at #22. They've gone to #5 twice before, in 2005 on "Aufstehn!" ("Get Up") featuring Cee-Lo Green, and the following year with "Ding".

Electro-dance act Brisby & Jingles debut at #25 with "Donnersong (Thunderbuddies)" featuring DJ DMH..and I had no idea until I watch this that it was the German overdubbing of the Mark Wahlberg/Seth McFarlane movie Ted...
German pop/goth rock group Unheilig (German for "Unholy") are hugs in their home country, having one of the biggest hits of 2010 there with "Geboren um zu leben" ("Born To Live"). They return at #32 with "Wie Wir Waren" ("As We Were") featuring singer Andreas Bourani...
DJ Otzi is probably the top Austrian performer in pop music right now, and he's had three #1 hits in Germany alone, "Anton aus Tirol", "Burger Dance", and "Ein Stern". He's now at #36 with "Du Bist Es" ("It's You")...
German pop/soul band Sohne Mannheims arrive at #51 with "Gesucht und Gefunden" ("Searched and Found"). The band topped the country's charts in 2008 with "Das Hat die Welt Noch Nicht Gesehen" ("The World Hasn't Seen This Yet")...
German singer Mandy Capristo was from the girl-group Monrose, and she had a #11 hit earlier this year with "The Way I Like It". She's back at #64 with "Closer", and I can see this record crossing over to other markets...(BTW this video has two endings - you choose! just like those books as a kid..)
Rapper/singer/wig model/new American Idol judge (let that sink in a little) Nicki Minaj pops in at #82 with "Pound The Alarm".
Last up at #100 is German band Ewig ("Forever") with their latest, "Ein Schritt weite" ("One Step Further")..
That does it for tonight's trip to Europe. Thanks for stopping by, and check back tomorrow for another Song of the Day, candletime, 6 more from the 60s, and a flight down under with "Aussie Sweep". Cheers!
