Country Sweep: September 22, 2012...
Hey folks, thanks for dropping back in, it's time for the fourth installment of today's "chart sweeps" of the newest songs making their way onto the weekly music charts at Billboard magazine. This time out it's the latest on country radio, and it's going to be rather brief, since only one new song comes on to the 60-position radio-monitored list. In fact, even the top spot remains static as Little Big Town's "Pontoon" spends a second week at #1.
Kix Brooks comes in at #56 with "Bring It On Home", the second single from his album New To This Town which dropped this past Tuesday (September 11). After 20 years of being one-half of the biggest duo in country music, Brooks & Dunn, it's nice to see Kix get some exposure, since he always seemed the John Oates to Ronnie Dunn's Daryl Hall. Only three of their big singles featured Kix, with "You're Gonna Miss Me When I'm Gone" his only lead #1. The first single from his set, "New To This Town", featuring Joe Walsh, didn't do as well as I'd hoped (it was a bit astray from the country core sound, but isn't all country right now?), but "Bring It On Home", while nothing crazy special, is a sweet, competent love ballad that shuffles its way unobtrusively..
Now make a video already, Kix!
Coming up in an hour and a half - we'll close this shop with the newest dance jams in the club and on the radio. Twang on!
