Songoftheday 3/9/16 - You can read me like a book just like a fortune teller, everybody needs a fortune teller telling you the very truth...
"One Good Woman" - Peter Cetera
from the album One More Story (1988)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #4 (one week)
Weeks in the Top-40: 13
Today's song of the day comes from soft-rock singer Peter Cetera, whose second solo album, released after he left his longtime gig in the band Chicago, landed him two #1 pop hits in the U.S. with "The Glory Of Love" and his duet with Amy Grant, "The Next Time I Fall", in 1986. Two years later, Cetera released his third solo set One More Story. Produced by Peter with Patrick Leonard (Madonna's True Blue go-to; she made an anonymous cameo on one of the tracks), the slick adult-pop record's first single was the uptempo "One Good Woman". Written by Cetera and Leonard, its position as lead single was surely meant as a break from the endless stream of ballads he's famous for...
"One Good Woman" became Peter's third (and so far last) top-ten pop hit in America in October of 1988. The single also spent a month at #1 on Billboard's Adult Contemporary (or "easy listening") radio chart. Internationally, the record went to #1 on the Canadian singles chart.
