Rock Sweep: March 26, 2016...


Round two of this week's "music sweeps", checking out the songs making their way on to the charts in Billboard magazine, is up, with the latest hits on rock radio...

On their main Rock Airplay chart, The Cold War Kids move back to #1 for an eleventh non-consecutive week with "First"...

Adelita's Way, a hard rock band from Las Vegas, drives in at #47 with "Bad Reputation". The track is already up to #18 on the Mainstream Rock list...

Brooklyn-based indie rock group Bear Hands paw in at #50 with "2AM". Back in 2014 they went to #15 with "Giants". "2AM" also jumps to #25 on the Alternative chart...


And now on to the rock radio format charts...

On the harder-edged Mainstream Rock radio panel, the Disturbed are on top for a second week with "The Sound Of Silence". It's their sixth #1 hit on this list...

Heavy metal "supergroup" HellYeah, led by Mudvayne's lead singer Chad Grey, return at #36 with "Human". They've reached the top ten on this chart four times before, with debut "You Wouldn't Know" going to #5 in 2007...


Meanwhile, on the Alternative/Modern Rock chart, Nothing But Thieves claim their first #1 hit with "Trip Switch"...

British modern rock act the 1975 take my "Rock Pick of the Week" handily while they move in at #34 with "The Sound". It's the second American single from their #1 album I Like It When You Sleep, for You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware of It - the first, "Love Me", went to #18...


The third single from Walk the Moon's Talking Is Hard album, "Work This Body", enters at #37. "Shut Up And Dance" was one of the biggest rock and pop hits of last year...


Lastly, on the Triple-A (adult album alternative, or "hipster rock") format, the Lumineers are on top for a second week with "Ophelia", their third #1 hit after "Ho Hey" and "Stubborn Love"...

Moon Taxi, an indie-jam rock band from Nashville, enter at #30 with "All Day All Night"...
