Songoftheday 3/7/16 - My heart starts breakin' when I start makin' a plan to let you go...

"It Would Take A Strong Strong Man" - Rick Astley
from the album Whenever You Need Somebody (1987)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #10 (one week)
Weeks in the Top-40: 10

Today's song of the day comes from English pop singer Rick Astley, who with the help of the production team of Stock, Aitken, and Waterman, scored back-to-back #1 hits in the U.S. with "Never Gonna Give You Up" and "Together Forever". The third single released in America was the mid-tempo soul number "It Would Take A Strong, Strong Man". Written and produced by the SAW team, the song highlighted Rick's amazingly powerful voice....

"It Would Take A Strong Strong Man" became Rick's third straight top ten hit in the U.S. in September of 1988. The song also was his second (after "Never Gonna Give You Up") to top Billboard's Adult Contemporary radio chart, while the remixed version went to #8 on their Dance Club Play list. Up in Canada, the song climbed all the way to #1, but it wasn't released in the rest of the world as a single.
