This week's "robbed hit" comes from "freestyle" dance music singer Dean Esposito, aka "Dino", who started his career in Las Vegas as a producer and radio DJ, before embarking on a performing path in the late 80's. He released his debut 12" single "Summergirls" in the summer of 1988, and the warm-weather club track made waves on urban dance radio...

"Summergirls" made it to the halfway mark on the Billboard pop Hot 100 chart in August of 1988. It would be the first of five songs from Dino's debut album 24/7 to make the chart (the next will be a "robbed hit" in the upcoming months)...
