Songoftheday 3/1/16 - Ever since I was a little kid I have always thought I could run faster than the wind...
"In Your Soul" - Corey Hart
from the album Young Man Running (1988)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #38 (one week)
Weeks in the Top-40: 2
Today's song of the day is by Canadian pop/rock singer Corey Hart, whose third album Fields Of Fire had scored him two top-40 hits in the States with "I Am By Your Side" and a cover of Elvis' "Can't Help Falling In Love" in 1986. Two years later, Corey released Young Man Running, which continued the evolution into a more mature rock direction and away from the synth-pop of "Sunglasses At Night" that he started with. The first single from the project was "In My Soul", written by Hart and produced by him along with Andy Richards (Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Wham!), and it had the same sonics as Bruce Springsteen's "Brilliant Disguise", along with the echoing female background vocals...
"In Your Soul" became Corey's eighth top-40 pop hit in the U.S. in July of 1988. The single also climbed to #2 in his native Canada.
