Songoftheday 12/4/12 - I like the love and I like the peaceful...

Kenny Loggins - "Welcome To Heartlight"
from the album High Adventure (1982)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #24 (two weeks)
Weeks in the top-40: 7

Today's Song of the Day is by singer/songwriter Kenny Loggins, whose fourth solo studio album High Adventure had already scored him two top-40 hits with the funk soft-rock of "Heart To Heart" and the hard-rockin' collaboration with Journey's Steve Perry, "Don't Fight It". For the followup single, Loggins went with a song originally called "Heartlight", but instead of being about E.T., like Neil Diamond's same-titled top-5 hit, this song was inspired by by a school in southern California, with singers from the institution in the background on the record and the dancers in the video...

The single became Kenny's third top-40 hit from the album (the most from any of his solo sets), and went to #17 on the adult-contemporary (soft-rock) radio format chart.

Up tomorrow: a superabundance of employment.
