"Turning Japanese" was a radio and club hit for the English new wave band the Vapors. Appearing on their album New Clear Days, the song was written by lead singer/guitarist David Fenton, and produced by Vic Coppersmith-Heaven. On Billboard magazine's Disco Top-100, the single peaked at #34 in 1980, while also getting to #36 on their pop Hot 100 chart. In their native UK, it went all the way to #3.
