"I Want U" was a club hit for singer Rosie Gaines. Appearing on her album Closer Than Close, the song was written by the singer with Prince, with whom she had been in his New Power Generation band, and produced by singer with Francis Jules. On Billboard magazine's Dance Club Play chart, the single peaked at #28 in 1995, while going to #90 on their R&B Singles list.
