Disco Dessert 6/3/22 - "Fame" by Irene Cara...

 

 

"Fame" was a big club and radio hit for singer and actress Irene Cara. Appearing on the soundtrack to the movie Fame which Cara starred in, the song was written by Dean Pritchard with producer Michael Gore. On Billboard magazine's Disco Top-100, the Fame soundtrack was listed as a single entry, with "Fame", Linda Clifford's "Red Light", and "Hot Lunch Jam" from Cara and the film cast were listed as key DJ cuts. The album spent a week at #1 there in 1980, while making it to #4 on Billboard's pop Hot 100.
